Evolution AMMA RESULTS January
18, 2010
I can honestly say this much, for
a first time show the guys at Evolution AMMA really put on a good one. When
you’re sitting cage side you can usually tell how the event is going from
the promoters side, from what I could hear and see this show went better
than well. Lets not lie to our selves, I’m sure you’ve been to amateur mma
shows where after a few fights you just want to go home for one reason or
another, that just wasn’t the case for this smooth sailing show.

With ten exciting bouts how could you go wrong, on that note
lets give props to the shows matchmaker CMA/Rhino Fight Team trainer Steve
Katz for putting together those ten exciting bouts. Katz has been involved
with the local mixed martial arts scene for quite some time so he came with
many years of experience.
Win or lose every fighter came who stepped into the cage
Saturday night came in shape and ready to fight. What some fighters lacked
in experience and skill was totally made up with their warrior hearts. They
all came to fight!

After going to many mixed martial arts events, there’s
always at least two fights that tend to stay in your mind for whatever
reason that may be, those fights where Billy Dee Williams vs Jordan Figueroa
and Noel Arcibal vs Andre Bonaventa and here’s why; in the Williams vs
Figueroa fight you could immediately see that Williams was the physically
bigger guy, it looked like a heavyweight taking on a welterweight. For
Figueroa and this being his first fight as an amateur he came in and did his
best against a way physically stronger Williams, both these fighters had
there moments in this fight. Figueroa showed really nice skills and plenty
of poise on the ground against the bigger man for a first timer. In the end
it was Williams who was earned a really hard fought unanimous decision.

Andre Boneventa
With probably the loudest cheering crowd for any fighter
that night, Noel Arcibal who was also making his debut as an amateur took on
the more experienced Andre Bonaventa. Right from the start you could see
that Arcibal had plenty of talent both standing and on the ground, wherever
Bonaventa took the fight Arcibal got the better of it. When the final bell
sounded it was Noel Arcibal winning his first amateur fight.
When all was done, the hour plus drive to and from Dover,
New Jersey from Queens was well worth it. If you ask me to give this
amateur show a grade then I’ll say it was an “A+” for a job well done.
